Women’s footwear brand Cheekyshoes has moved its production to the UK after raising new funding from investors in February.
The label, launched just over a year ago by business partners Marcin Zaba and Pavel Maslakov, makes comfortable and colourful footwear aimed at mums and is currently sold exclusively through its website, www.cheekyshoes.com.
Zaba and Maslakov, who came up with the idea as part of their university course, funded the launch of the business themselves and produced their first range in China. However, the pair found they were unable to order smaller quantities in the variety of options they required.
Zaba said: “The quantities we wanted to manufacture were impossible in China, especially at the quality and choice we wanted.”
The next range, which will be available online in June, is being made in the UK with various components sourced from different factories. Cheekyshoes will add an asymmetric wraparound style to its original ballet shoe and will also extend the colour options to 10. All shoes are made in a neoprene and Lycra mix but the brand is also planning to introduce new materials and patterns.
