David Ward in shock exit from Ugg-owner Deckers

David Ward, UK general manager at Deckers which owns leading footwear brand Ugg, has left the company after just six months.

Ward was hired by Deckers in July, shortly after it ended its UK distribution deal with AMG. He was charged with overseeing the distribution of all of Deckers’ brands in the UK and Republic of Ireland including Ugg from January 2011. His focus over the last few months had been to ensure a smooth transition for retailers working with AMG to work with Deckers. Deckers was also fulfilling spring 11 orders taken by AMG.

Ward was previously managing director of Perry Ellis Europe for two years. It is not known if he has a job to go to.

Kelly Da Silva, Deckers European marketing manager, said: “We can confirm that David Ward has left Deckers UK Limited. We would like to thank him for his time at Deckers and wish him all the best for the future.”

Brands owned by Deckers include Ugg, outdoor footwear brand Teva, eco-friendly brand Simple Shoes.
