JD Sports acquires DR Shoes

Footwear designer and supplier DR Shoes has been bought out of administration by sportswear retailer JD Sports Fashion.

The Staffordshire-based company which owns canvas footwear brand Nanny State and trainer brand Babycham, fell into administration last month. It is not known how much JD Sports Fashion paid for the firm.

DR Shoes was founded by husband-and-wife team Daren and Tracey Roe in 2001, and supplied the brands to etailers such as Cloggs and Asos as well as bricks-and-mortar retailers including Schuh and Office and London indie Bullfrogs.

The deal is the latest acquisition by JD Sports Fashion. In May it bought men’s young fashion brand Sonneti from young fashion business World Trade & Design (WDT).

JD Sports Fashion and DR Shoes were both unavailable for comment.
