Linda Florance

Chief Executive, Skillfast-UK

Linda Florance is Chief Executive at Skillfast-UK, the Sector Skills Council for fashion and textiles. With her depth of experience, strategic vision and ability to inspire others, Linda has guided many individuals to reach their full potential through skills and training. She leads the way on the performance and strategic direction of Skillfast-UK.

Linda’s career began in business at major apparel company Courtaulds, where she managed a manufacturing unit before moving to a role in quality management.  After working for Littlewoods Linda moved out of the commercial sector into CAPITB (the Clothing and Allied Products Training Board), where she was a training and development consultant, specialising in management development.

She followed this by becoming MD of a national training provider, Kingscourt Consultancies, and experience gained here led to Linda becoming Director of the National Training Organisation for apparel. In 2002, Linda led the successful bid which established Skillfast-UK as a trailblazer Sector Skills Council.


Skillfast-UK is the Sector Skills Council for fashion and textiles.  Led by a Board of employers, its mission is to ensure that schools, colleges and private providers train people in the skills that our industry requires.

Through its close links with businesses and employers, extensive knowledge of qualifications and training, and in-depth information on recruitment trends, Skillfast-UK is the country’s foremost expert in fashion and textiles skills.
