Mohair

Mohair is emerging as a key fabric for both knits and wovens for A/W 11/12.

Mohair is emerging as a key fabric for both knits and wovens for A/W 11/12. The unmistakably fuzzy aura of mohair has already been spotted on runways (as at Frankie Morello and Charles Anastase) and front rows at New York, London and Milan fashion weeks.

We expect brands to use mohair to update knitwear, tailoring and outerwear to provide a nostalgic feeling of cosy luxury with a tough edge. First worn in the 1950s and last worn by punks and retro babes, this soft touch is surprisingly rock ‘n’ roll. Saturated colours are key, and mohair checks (see Etro) take on a blurred and shadow-like quality.
