New Boutiques: London

WGSN picks the best new boutiques the capital has to offer.

Folk, Bloomsbury

Folk, the contemporary fashion brand, has opened its first womenswear store on Lamb’s Conduit Street.

The 1,000 sq ft store reflects the brand’s focus on quality materials and attention to detail, with a reclaimed wood display, rope-hung lighting and rails and a shelving system crafted from wooden boards from a disused pottery factory in northern England.

The brand’s footwear collection is sold alongside clothing from other brands including Sessùn and Acne.

The store will also become a base for Folk to develop its own womenswear collection, expected in store before Christmas.

Layers, Mayfair

Layers, on Mayfair’s Conduit Street, showcases an international mix of avant-garde womenswear and menswear in a minimalist environment.

Garments by AF Vandevorst, Gareth Pugh and Anne Valérie Hash are presented simply, and art, music and literature are also on offer in store.

Layers also aims to promote young design talent by offering them a platform to showcase their work.

LN-CC, Dalston

LN-CC is based in Shacklewell Lane, east London, where a carefully edited selection of clothing is curated alongside music, books and art.

LN-CC - which stands for Late Night Chameleon Café - is located in a 5,000 sq ft basement on a hidden side street in Dalston and originally began as an online venture.

The store is appointment only to ensure customers receive personal attention. However, customers can browse unattended.

Denham, Shoreditch

Dutch luxury denim label Denham’s new space in Charlotte Road is spread over four floors and houses the retail space, menswear and womenswear wholesale showrooms and office space for the company’s UK-based team.

Check out the innovative fixtures and fittings such as the scissor-shaped garment hangers.
