Young fashion brand Firetrap has awarded its global footwear licence to premium footwear manufacturer GMI USA.
Firetrap, which previously worked with supplier Fresh Footwear for eight years, has teamed up with its new licensee to launch a footwear range for spring 11.
The men’s and women’s range will be launched at trade show Bread & Butter Berlin in July.
Firetrap said the footwear had been designed to support its “modernist utility” and “rock ‘n’ roll-inspired” clothing.
It is unclear why Firetrap finished its licence agreement with Fresh Footwear, which will end by January.
US-based GMI, which has an office in the UK, was founded in 2005 by Stefano Maroni and creates footwear collections for denim brands such as True Religion.
Firetrap commercial director Callum Sneddon said footwear was a “very important category” for the brand.
Firetrap has eight UK standalone stores in locations including London, Leeds and Edinburgh.
