WHAT Launch of womenswear brand Star Hu’s flagship store

WHERE Portobello Green Designers, Portobello Road, Notting Hill      

Beijing-born womenswear designer Star Yixuan Hu opened her first store last week, with the launch toasted by a host of celebrities and names from the fashion world including fashion writer and broadcaster Caryn Franklin (pictured).

The drinks Prosecco and vodka cocktails provided by Soho bar Disiac.

The entertainment American actress and songwriter Elizabeth McGovern’s band Sadie and the Hotheads performed.

Footwear brand Dr Martens celebrated the opening of its Carnaby Street store with a party that overflowed with beer, bands and boots.

WHAT Hobbs’ Charity Month

WHERE Hobbs headquarters on Gloucester Avenue, London      

Nicky Dulieu, chief executive of womenswear retailer Hobbs (below), announced the winning ticket for a raffle that raised more than £2,000 for the Fashion & Textiles Children’s Trust during the retailer’s Charity Month. The raffle was just one of the events held by Hobbs during October.

The chain has so far raised £12,000 for the charity.

The events Bake sales, pub quizzes, pop-up shops and car boot sales, plus a fête which went by the name of ‘A Fête Worse than Death’.

WHAT Walpole Awards for Excellence

Mulberry creative director Emma Hill picked up the trophy for Best British Luxury Brand at luxury association Walpole’s Awards for Excellence last week. Selfridges’ creative director Alannah Weston, and Walpole chief executive Julia Carrick and actor Anthony Head also joined in the celebrations.

The drinks Laurent-Perrier champagne.

The food Air-dried venison with truffles, scallops with minted pea purée and rose-flavoured marshmallows.
