Nifty nails and rugged rugby players.
Retailers get suited and booted
Bira president Bruce McLaren (second right) and Fashion Association of Britain chair and retail columnist Melissa Wheeler celebrated a hard day’s work with fellow FAB retailers after the IMC Buying Group show in Northamptonshire. Raising a glass with them are David Agnew, manager at Valentines of Crieff, Tony Symons, owner of Rogers Menswear in Herne Bay, David Aitchison, owner of the eponymous shop in Solihull, and David Seed, managing director of Hellewells in Preston.
Scrubbing up post-scrum
To celebrate the start of the Six Nations Championship, rugby-inspired lifestyle brand Eden Park has appointed England players Tom Wood (pictured) and Joe Launchbury as its new brand ambassadors. The French brand has been the official formalwear supplier to the England team since 2010 and will be dressing the players for all of their pre- and post-match functions at both the Six Nations and Rugby World Cupthis year. Let’s hope their game is at least half as sharp as their suits.
Yummy fizz, yumi fashion
The Cointreau fizz cocktails at young fashion brand Yumi’s spring 15 preview were far too drinkable and, Drapers suspects, a lot stronger than they tasted - a dangerous combination. Clare Nepal, who co-founded the business with her husband Uttam, talked us through her favourite pieces in the collection, including a strappy coral dress and tropical-print skirt. Nepal, Uttam (right) and commercial director Dipak Davé were on hand to greet the celebrity guests including, bizarrely, artist Damien Hirst.
Manicure is just what the Dr ordered
British footwear brand Dr Martens joined forces with entrepreneur Sharmadean Reid and her nail brand Wah Nails to launch its spring 15 #StandForSomething campaign at its London Carnaby Street store. On the night guests, including Daniel Freeland, UK marketing manager, and Reid, were offered manicures with some rather fetching nail art inspired by the Dr Martens spring collection.
