The week’s social spotlight.

Trainer team’s Desert mission

Onitsuka Tiger, Asics and Offspring celebrated the launch of their trainer collaboration in Offspring’s Commercial Street store in Shoreditch last week. Called Desert Pack - inspired by the colours and textures of the desert as the sun sets - the range was designed by Offspring buyer and designer Aman Tak (below right) and Gerwin Dors, lifestyle product management at Asics and Onitsuka Tiger (below left). The Japanese origins of both footwear brands were well represented at the event, with Asahi beer in plentiful supply.

Past meets present in spiewak installation

The Spiewak Golden Fleece range for autumn 14 launched at Shoreditch menswear independent Present London, with a specially installed window featuring an original 1940s Spiewak jacket alongside one from the new collection. Spiewak agents Kevin Stone, Ed Fife and Stef Cardoni from Index London had fun with Present owner Eddie Prendergast (centre) and Drapers’ Emily Norval.

Love thy Neighborhood

Streetwear brand Carhartt toasted its refurbished Covent Garden store and the latest range from its collaboration with Japanese label Neighborhood. Wilfried Atzert, global managing director of Carhartt WIP, chatted to visual merchandiser Sammy Kebatti and head of retail operations Mathias Althoff as guests viewed the autumn 14 range and looked around the three-storey shop at 13 Shorts Gardens.

Village people

On a recent trip through Henlow in Bedfordshire, we came across this advertisement for The Drapers development, a property collection including Drapers House and Drapers Cottage. Not to disrespect our current trendy Shoreditch headquarters, but we are seriously considering making the move. Is anyone with us?
