Designer label Oscar de la Renta has made two senior appointments within its footwear business as part of plans to grow the category to $50m (£32m) by 2014.
Annelie Hofstrom has joined Oscar de la Renta as executive vice president of footwear. Joining from luxury footwear brand Manolo Blahnik, where she worked for 13 years, she will be responsible for product development, sales, merchandising, production and marketing. Alexia Aubert, who has designed for footwear labels Pierre Hardy and Christian Louboutin, has come on board as director of design for footwear.
The new hires are part of the label’s plans to grow its footwear business from $10m (£6m) to $50m (£32m) within the next three to four years, according to reports.
Chief executive officer Alex Bolen said: “Our shoe business has been lacklustre for quite a long time. We have had some great shoes but we have never been able to consistently develop a great line. In my opinion, we just didn’t have a team that knew how to make samples as Oscar and his team know how to make clothes.”
