New and upcoming womenswear labels showcased their eye-catching designs at London’s May Fair Hotel.

Belles of London

Structure and tailoring define Belles of London’s spring 11 collection. A conservative colour palette of cream, grey and black is worked into tailored wool dresses with emphasised shoulders. The silhouette focuses on 1950s-style nipped-in waists with sheer décolletages and peplum waists featuring throughout. Surface detail comes in the form of sequins, lace and velvet.

Eva Evanovich

The asymmetrical cuts, pleated fabrics and origami folds that have been the signature of Eva Evanovich since its launch in 2007 at London Fashion Week continue for spring 11. Playing with proportion and shape, the label mixes rigid netted fabrics with cotton and linen in a mainly black and white palette. Highlights include a hooded dress with netting and braid detail (pictured).

Beulah London

Beulah London is inspired by the time its two designers spent in India, expressed via a vibrant palette of fuchsia pink, turquoise and sapphire blue. Butterfly motifs flutter across silk cocktail dresses with billowing sleeves, plunging necklines on halterneck dresses and around the hems of strapless maxi dresses. Separates include high-waisted shorts and a pussybow-lined shirt.

Gabriella Ravello

Gabriella Ravello’s spring 11 collection is underpinned by Lycra and jersey. References to 1990s rave culture in the form of neon yellows and pinks are combined with 1980s body-con silhouettes. The label mixes neon elastic, fringing and peek-a-boo elements
with neon bold printed Lycra to create a sporty aesthetic.

Taking inspiration from Audrey Hepburn’s signature 1950s silhouettes with shirt and trouser separates, CC Kuo modernises the look with digital prints. Loose-fit tapered trousers belted at the waist are a highlight in muted sandy tones. Button-up shirts in 100% silk are covered with digital floral prints, as are sleeveless and capped-sleeve silk dresses with contrast block colour.
