RETAIL 2011

The definitive report on the state of the retail industry, from the leaders in UK retail

There isn’t a more dynamic industry in the UK than retailing, and the UK retail scene is constantly changing. It makes the need for timely information and understanding of where the retail economy is at more important than ever.  This report is designed to give a rounded picture of exactly where UK retail is as we enter 2011.

For this report, Retail Week interviewed 25 chief executives and board directors from major UK retailers, representing the full spectrum of categories. We asked them for their views on the economy, the outlook for consumer spending, on their business and their plans to expand. We went into more detail on areas for investment, notably multichannel and technology, and areas that represent a particular challenge in 2011, like supply chain.

We combined the insight from the interviews with the depth of understanding built up by Retail Week and in particular our information service Retail Week Knowledge Bank, and combined that with research pulled together from the most authoritative sources covering the sector to create what we think is the comprehensive guide to retailing in the UK in 2011.

Tim Danaher, Retail Week
