Roland Mouret steps in as creative director at Robert Clergerie

Roland Mouret has been appointed as creative director of footwear and accessories at French fashion house Robert Clergerie.

Roland Mouret, who achieved global recognition with his Galaxy dress which was worn by countless celebrities, has previously worked with the brand’s founder Robert Clergerie by collaborating on shoes.

By bringing him on board full-time the brand could benefit from a boosted profile after being acquired by Fung Brands and Jean-Marc Loubier in April this year.

Mouret said: “To be the creative director of Robert Clergerie is an incredible opportunity. For so many people it’s such an important brand and is held in the highest affection, as is Robert Clergerie himself. This is a chance for me to work with a master on the art and craft of shoe design and to be part of the special relationship that women have with their shoes.”
