How to be a Menswear editor for an etailer

Diana Moreno-Gomez Senior consultant, Fashion and Retail Personnel advises.

An online menswear editor is the voice of the brand online. Working very closely with the marketing and the menswear product teams, they are in charge of the day-to-day management of the written and visual content of the website.

Conception and execution of email marketing and product communications, as well as the flow of information through blogs and social media platforms, will fall under their remit.

The role is ideal for someone who has developed their own writing and fashion style in their career and is able to communicate with wide audiences and speak directly to targeted markets.

A fashion or marketing degree would be ideal, although working within the industry and gaining an understanding of the final consumer would be the real differentiator in order to develop your own voice.

An online menswear editor ought to be curious by nature, able to react to fashion trends, create and adopt emerging communication platforms and channels and adapt to the ever-changing styles of the new seasons.

This is a role that will keep you at the top of the menswear fashion scene. Average salaries are between £40,000 and £50,000.
