Interviewing Sarah Curran CEO of www.my-wardrobe.com made me feel exactly like that! On the Fashion Business Club’s 4th Birthday at the Swarovski Crystallize lounge I had the privilege of talking to Sarah and learning more about her business.
From a fashion and media background Sarah opened her business bricks and mortar Powder in 2003 in Crouch End which quickly saw enormous growth. Sarah and husband Andrew moved to France after the birth of their son but soon began thinking of new business ideas.
In 2006 they launched my-wardrobe.com which became an immediate success both commercially and with fantastic industry recognition too. Last year my-wardrobe.com won Best Innovation at the 2009 Drapers E-Tail Awards as well the highly acclaimed Gold: Overall Winner. Also in 2009 my-wardrobe was nominated for Best Emerging Retailer at the 2009 Retail Week Awards.
On the day we talked my-wardrobe was, once again, nominated for two awards at the Drapers E-tail Awards and proudly won Best Customer Experience which the Sarah was particularly pleased with. It has always been her desire that her on-line customers would experience the same personal service she had offered in her own store. It has obviously worked!
The site is exciting to use and offers many different opportunities to view the products and suggests complete looks and styling tips too. There is a my-blog and a my-tv section and one can really get lost in the “my” world quite easily!
Sarah and Andrew have lots of plans for the future and want to keep evolving the site. Judging by their current success I am sure that, whatever they do, my-wardrobe will continue to be a great place not just to shop but to linger a while…I know I will be doing that!
