Designers including Victoria Beckham, Alexander McQueen and Jonathan Saunders were played homage to last night as the fashion industry was celebrated at last night’s Olympics closing ceremony.
A convoy of billboards were driven into the stadium displaying some of the world’s most famous supermodels dressed in British labels. The billboards were then ripped down to reveal the models themselves.
Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell took to the stage in bespoke Alexander McQueen gowns while Karen Elson wore Burberry. Stella Tennant was dressed in Christopher Kane, Jourdan Dunn wore Jonathan Saunders and Stephen Jones while Georgia May Jagger was clad in Victoria Beckham. Lily Donaldson was draped in Vivienne Westwood and Lily Cole in Erdem, while David Gandy wore Paul Smith.
Kim Gavin, creative director of the closing ceremony said: “The closing ceremony is a celebration of the best of London, the best of British people, and the best of our music and our culture. The most innovative and iconic fashion designers and models in the world are British and so this ceremony would have been impossible without them at its heart.”
