J Crew, the US fashion retailer that made its UK retail debut last year with three London stores, is in talks to open premises at Westfield London and Sloane Square.
A source close to the situation said J Crew is considering opening a store in the The Village, Westfield London’s luxury retail hub, where it would sit alongside brands such as Burberry, Dior and Jimmy Choo.
It has not yet been decided whether the Westfield London store will be womenswear-only or if it will house a mix of menswear, womenswear and kidswear like its Regent Street flagship.
It is thought that the Sloane Square store would stock womenswear.
If the premises are signed, the retailer is expected to open the stores this year. Sources told Drapers that J Crew had been eyeing a store on Westbourne Grove but the space was too small.
J Crew launched in the UK last autumn to much fanfare, opening three London stores: in Bloomsbury’s Lamb’s Conduit Street, Brompton Cross in west London and its flagship on Regent Street. The group has more than 400 stores, mainly in the US, across its J Crew and Madewell fascias and its factory outlets.
J Crew declined to comment.
