Jane McNally, Chief executive, Alexon Group

Jane McNally is making changes at Alexon Group, which includes brands Bay Trading and Alex & Co.

After being drafted in from Peacocks this year, she restructured the management team and created new positions, including retail operations director, to strengthen the business.

The management changes have yet to impact on Alexon’s sales, which deteriorated in the 17 weeks to November 22, with like-for-likes down 11%.
Alexon says its strategy to clear stock, particularly at its Ann Harvey and Bay Trading chains, along with increased promotional activity within department stores, means gross margin has also fallen back.

McNally says next year will bring a “clean sheet” for the business.
