JD looks to expand further in France

Young fashion giant JD Sports Fashion is reportedly searching for space in France to build new stores.

The retailer given real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield an exclusive brief to find space in town centres and commercial areas. The group is looking for space between 3767sq ft to 10,763 sq ft.

JD acquired French footwear chain Chausport in 2009 for £7m. At the time, the retailer said this move would allow it to expand further into Europe outside of its UK and Ireland base.

It opened three stores in France at the end of last year and it will be expanding its store in the Part Dieu shopping centre in Lyon by an extra 7534 sq ft expanding from 3229sq ft to 10,763sq ft.
