Sales of fashion at department store retailer John Lewis fell 0.9% over the week to September 12, as good weather for part of the week hit footfall.
Total sales at the 27-store department store group fell 2.8% to £50.04m, with just five of the stores in the retailer’s portfolio making gains on last year.
The Peter Jones and Knight & Lee branches led the way, posting 4.9% and 5.6% rises respectively.
The High Street Fashion Week marketing initiative held in London last week also boosted the retailer’s sales in the capital.
John Lewis Direct had another strong week posting 19% growth - this week saw the launch of its new fashion website.
John Lewis selling operations director Nat Wakely said: “This week sees the successful launch of our value assortment together with the official launch of Fashion Online on John Lewis Direct: an exciting time as we start to gear up now for Christmas.”
