Fashion sales at John Lewis rose 12.4% during the week to November 7, but were impacted by the mild weather.
Fashion’s performance lagged behind the overall department store chain, which recorded a sales uplift of 13.2% over the week to £65.4m.
John Lewis reported an “excellent” week with double-digit increases on six out of seven days of the week.
John Lewis director, selling operations Nat Wakely said: “On fashion we could do with the weather turning a bit colder as it is milder now than it was last year”.
Every one of John Lewis’ department stores apart from Aberdeen was in positive territory during the week and Wakely said that the performance should give John Lewis “great confidence as we enter the last seven weeks to Christmas”.
