Junya Watanabe

Spring 10

The look
Wildly at odds with the languid silhouette to emerge elsewhere there was shrunken tailoring and heritage-led checked cloths at Junya Watanabe. The teaming of tailored jackets with white trousers would have looked at home on the runways of Milan last week where separates were rolled out by most designers. An outdoors-mood came through in the use of waxed jackets and loose fitting trench coats.

Key pieces
Cuffed white trousers were a must-have while a more youthful twist came through in the use of Madras checks on wovens and tailoring.

For more spring 10 menswear trends see issue of Drapers (June 27), which will feature a full report from Florence menswear show Pitti Uomo. Drapers (July 4) will feature an in-depth guide to the men’s catwalks.
