Keep looking like your character...

I have had a very busy week and a week that has given me “a mood for thought”  It kicked off by going to the Press Night at Soho Theatre to see a production by the National Youth Theatre called Tits & Teeth.  The first act “Tits” was about a young Welsh girl wanting to be a Glamour Model and the second act was about Body Dysmorphia.  A common condition.  What the sufferer sees about themselves is like a distorted mirror reflection.  In truth they look good.  I was completely absorbed in this play.

The added fact that it was performed by 15 to 22 year olds with such commitment and zealous made me feel it should be seen in every school.  I think there are many in our fashion and entertainment Industry that has this problem, they just do not know when to stop the surgery or feel good from within. It also has the media influence to “be perfect” whatever that is.  Keep looking like your character that is what I say.
I went to The Natural Shoe Store Shop in Covent Garden on Saturday and was very well looked after by Mariona who was so informative about the brands and clearly interested in the whole ethos of T.N.Shoe Store, that I bought a pair of gorgeous lime green sued THINK sandals.  I Think I am walking on air.  I also discovered a great brand called TRIPPEN from Germany.  I may go back for the bronze walnut whip style shoe in leather. (remember I like imagination in creativity).  Really soft and very yummy.  I like this brand very much so watch out for it.  Sanita clogs were looking good also.  This shop was very busy which was encouraging.  Good service and excellent product is a good combination.
I went to see The Time Travellers Wife film.  After reading the book, which is my very favourite, the film actually stood up to giving a good story.  It was much lighter and briefer in tone but you believed in the love story.  I was impressed with the special effect and the continuity in make up and costume.  Travelling back and forth must have been a headache for the design departments.  Eric Bana should have no problems with his body image…. After far too long, I finally went to see The Jersey Boys (musical) and had such a wonderful time.  I took my sister who had lived through the Frankie Valli era and sang along to all the Four Seasons numbers.  Go and see it and forget your woes.

The Bank holiday weekend kicked off with a Medieval Garden Party given by David and Maria Gilders,  Zepla Fashion brand fame, and I have to say it was a WOW.  The Medieval dress designs were very flattering for the ladies, ” oh for muse of fire and a wimple”  but the men I think had a tough time in those days with short tabards and rough tied leggings.  But the Horses looked splendid for the Jousting Tournament.  I dropped my hankie for the Knights to fight over.  I won them both.
I am off to Paris now.  Spooky is keeping watch.   Exciting news to be revealed next week.  Spooky sends purrs and I am Sparkling for you all.  VICKY
