Conservative yet demure, Alber Elbaz unveiled a timeless presentation of wardrobe classics focused on skirt suits and tailored separates. Swagged shoulder and waist details created focal points in a collection which pulled silhouettes into waspish proportions. Hemlines hovered above and blow the knee on woollen tailoring, inching higher for Lanvin’s mini cocktail dresses, some of which were swagged at single shoulders, with others cloaked in a diaphanous gauze of black netting.
Soft shouldered tailored jackets were gathered at the waist with contrast belts and paired with fitted pencil skirts. A black parade of waist-cinched dresses had some styles lined with astripes of fine tone-on-tone beading, with others relying on horizontal draping falling through the body to create surface interest.
