Lexington hits UK expansion trail

Lifestyle brand Lexington plans to double its UK stockist base and oversee the opening of its first shop-in-shop over the coming year.

The Swedish men’s and women’s brand has 25 UK stockists including premium independents Maggie & co in Torquay, Michelle B in Barrowford, Lancashire, and eight-store Northeast indie Jules B.

“Our main thrust for delivering growth will be 100% through independents,” said Peter Cutress, sales director for the UK and Ireland. “I’d like to get it up to 40 to 50 stockists in the next 12 months.”

In august, Fenwick will open a Lexington shop-in-shop in its Newcastle store. The 861 sq ft space will be on the lower ground floor and comprise a mix of the brand’s fashion and homeware.

Wholesale prices start at £17.50 for a T-shirt and rise to £195 for a suede jacket, with a 2.8 mark-up.

Wendy Jones, owner of premium retailer Robinsons of Bawtry in South Yorkshire, has stocked the label for four seasons and described it as “fantastic”, particularly as pieces are all machine-washable.

Premium womenswear store Giselle in York added Lexington for the first time for spring 14. Office manager Bridget Bland said: “It’s a really nice casual brand with good price points.”
