Louis Vuitton

Spring 10

The look
Using fabrics from neoprene to silk, there was a wide-ranging versatility about Paul Helber’s show for Louis Vuitton – and that was just the bomber jackets. The breadth of reference tipped into the colour palette too. From sludgy moss shades to inky blue, grey and bright yellow orange and electric blue, this show, like Paul Smith’s, gave the Paris palette a shot in the arm.

Key pieces
Multipocket knits had a safari feel while parka coats came in inky blue tonal jacquards to add a luxurious edge. This was often about the unusual use of fabrics and the crinkle-washed silk jacket was a good example. A preppy edge came through on Harrington style jackets.

For more spring 10 menswear trends see the forthcoming issue of Drapers (June 27), which will feature a full report from Florence menswear show Pitti Uomo. Drapers (July 4) will feature an in-depth guide to the men’s catwalks.
