Made Man

Made Man in Cockfosters in north London.

Chosen by Darran Harris, owner of agency Brand National.

One store that does deserve recognition and whose owner works hard all the time is Made Man. Aziz Abidat works 24/7 and is at all the shows – you’ll always find him at Magic and at Bread & Butter each season.

He networks all the time and is not scared of picking up on a trend earlier than everyone else. His two stores have a very impressive image. There are dark wood fixtures and great chandelier-style lighting, and huge gilt frames – which would be at home in an art gallery – are used to frame glass shelves full of product. It looks a million dollars.

The key is if I was shopping I’d spend here – Aziz knows his local demographic and researched his customer base before opening, and he buys slightly differently for each of his stores.

Aziz’s father was the owner of Phlip on London’s King’s Road and Aziz is in the process of converting that store to a Made Man, which will be the third store alongside those in Cockfosters and Queen’s Park in north London.
