Manchester Arndale shopping centre has recorded its best-ever footfall figures on December 1, and is on track to beat its annual footfall target.
The centre saw 250,000 visitors pass through its doors on the first Saturday in December, an increase of 7% on the same Saturday the previous year.
The figures were also 5% up on the busiest day last year, which was December 5.
Manchester Arndale is now on track to exceed its annual target of 40 million visitors.
“During 2012 Manchester Arndale has already enjoyed year-on-year growth in visitors and December has got off to a flying start,” said centre director David Allinson.
“We are now anticipating a strong run up to Christmas and the centre’s extended opening hours means we can cope with this additional demand.”
