Footwear designer Manolo Blahnik is to receive this year’s outstanding achievement award at the upcoming British Fashion Council British Fashion Awards.
The award, which will be presented at the Savoy on November 27, recognises Blahnik’s contribution to the British fashion industry over the last 40 years.
The designer has already been crowned British Fashion Awards Accessory Designer of the Year three times in 1990, 1999 and 2003.
In 2007, he was also awarded the honorary title of Commander of the British Empire for his service to the British fashion industry.
Blahnik has boutiques located in London, New York, Las Vegas, Athens, Madrid, Istanbul, Dubai, Hong Kong, Seoul, Singapore and Stockholm.
In February 2013 he will work with the BFC on the creative brief for London Fashion Week’s campaign.
“It is a great honour to be receiving this award from the British Fashion Council. To be recognised for doing something I love is really wonderful,” said Blahnik.
