Mary Homer, Managing director, Topshop

Mary Homer took the helm at Topshop in 2006 and she has successfully led the women’s young fashion retailer through a challenging year to finish with another set of record results.

Topshop remains a trendsetter rather than a follower, and Homer has shown sceptics that her 22 years at Arcadia Group has best placed her to run the retailer, following the controversial departure of Jane Shepherdson two years ago.

Homer’s biggest project over the past 12 months has been overseeing Topshop’s debut in New York. But the retailer’s Stateside ambitions have been thwarted by planning and building complications and its store opening is running four months behind schedule. Homer has also successfully spearheaded the retailer’s expansion in Russia and the Far East this year.
