Menswear and sportswear led the way for fashion sales at John Lewis last week contributing to a 10.8% increase in fashion sales compared to the same week the previous year.
Men’s casualwear brands ended the week up 13% with both Diesel and Polo Ralph Lauren delivering high double-digit increases on the year.
The retailer’s London stores also helped to drive fashion sales with both the Oxford Street and Peter Jones’ branches reporting an 18% uplift in fashion sales in the week to August 25.
Overall sales at the department store group were up 8.8% while online sales at Johnlewis.com were up by 25.7%.
“The bank holiday spirit drove a healthy increase of 8.8 per cent, which was a solid end to a strong August for John Lewis,” said Matt McCormack buying director for fashion at John Lewis.
