Mulberry hires LVMH manager

British luxury brand Mulberry has hired LVMH executive Steven Newey in the newly created role of group commercial director.

Newey was previously general manager for Europe and the Middle East at LVMH-owned footwear brand Berluti. He will join the brand in his new position on May 1 land will lead retail, wholesale and online according to Drapers’ sister magazine Retail Week.

Separately group supply chain director Ian Scott is leaving Mulberry after nine years. During his time at the brand he lead the sourcing and played a role in developing Mulberry’s factories in Somerset. He is understood to be setting up his own consultancy.

In January the British label issued a profit warning after UK retail revenues fell over the Christmas period.
