New Look unveils footwear standalone

New Look, the UK’s largest retailer of young women’s footwear, has launched its first standalone footwear and accessories store.

The 2,600 sq ft New Look Footwear and Accessories concept opened last week at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol as part of a trial by the high street chain.

New Look is scouting the market for further locations of between 2,800 sq ft and 4,500 sq ft.

It is likely to run a 10-store trial where its existing stores are not large enough to carry the full footwear offer.

The specialist store is the brainchild of Malcolm Collins, New Look’s buying, merchandise and design director for footwear and accessories, who has built the high street multiple’s footwear to be the market leader in the 16 to 44-year-old women’s age category since its launch in 1997.

He said: “There are a number of towns where we could open this concept. Our footwear is so successful that a standalone concept could be a really exciting place to shop for existing customers and customers who are new to the brand.

“It is an opportunity for us to introduce the footwear and accessories to shoppers who may not buy New Look clothing.”
