Charles Tyrwhitt to open 20th store‏

Britain’s biggest mail-order shirt company Charles Tyrwhitt is to open its second store in Scotland.

Founder Nick Wheeler has revealed plans to open in Glasgow, following a succesful launch in Edinburgh. The new store will create a dozen new jobs in the area and opens on November 8.

“There is a real appetite for our products in Scotland and we wanted to ensure our loyal customers in Glasgow had a store to call their own,” Wheeler said.

Charles Tyrwhitt stores have a presence in Holborn, central London, New York’s Fifth Avenue and Washington’s Connecticut Avenue. The new store, which sits on Glasgow’s Buchanan Street, comprises 2,705 sq ft of space.

“Our aim is to open a small number of prestigious stores in the very best locations,” said Wheeler. “We don’t want to have a store on every street. We just want to be the best shirt-maker.”

“We are delighted to be opening on Buchanan Street, which is one of the busiest shopping streets I’ve ever come across. Given the success of our Edinburgh store, we have high hopes for Glasgow.”
