Fashion sales at John Lewis have grown by 12.8%, fuelled by price matching a rival retailer’s promotional event.
The department store said both its menswear and womenswear offerings saw double-digit sales growth for the week to 26 August.
Women’s accessories sales were up 11.4% compared with the same week last year.
Beauty, wellbeing and leisure sales were also highlighted as a strong performer after surging by 22%, driven by strong sales at the retailer’s beauty counters.
Total sales for the week reached £83.8m, up 6.2% on last year.
