M&S confirms start date for McDonald

Marks and Spencer has announced that Jill McDonald, the company’s new managing director for clothing, home and beauty, will take up her position on 2 October.

McDonald, whose appointment was announced in May, will take over clothing, home and beauty from CEO Steve Rowe, as well as taking on responsibility for the supply chain and logistics from CFO Helen Weir.

The former Halfords CEO will join a team including newly-appointed supply chain, logistics and planning director Gordon Mowat, who was the former Morrisons group property director and was appointed in July.

In July M&S announced a 1.2% drop in clothing and home like-for-like sales for the 13 weeks to 1 July 2017, but Rowe insisted the sector would be back in growth before the end of the financial year.
