Supergroup hires ex-Asda man as ecommerce boss

SuperGroup - parent of fashion brand SuperDry - has appointed former Asda customer director Jon Wragg as its new ecommerce chief, replacing Chris Griffin.

Griffin, who has been ecommerce director at Supergroup for more than four years “indicated his desire to stand down to explore new opportunities some time ago”, according to Drapers’ sister title Retail Week.

Wragg, who had been at Asda since 2006, stood down from his role at the supermarket late last month and will start in his new role at the end of April.

He took on the role of Asda customer director in December last year, rising from multichannel director, where he is credited with being a lynchpin of the supermarket’s successful online expansion.

Online sales of Superdry have jumped 24% in the first quarter of 2014 and it is now sold more than 100 countries. It has recently launched websites in Switzerland, Canada, Spain and Italy.
