UK designers rework the denim jacket for Topshop

British menswear designers including Lou Dalton and Oliver Spencer have designed a denim jacket for menswear retailer Topman.

The Arcadia-owned chain invited designers to take part in the Denim Project to refresh and update the classic denim jacket. The six jackets have been designed by Katie Eary, Shaun Sampson, Lou Dalton, Oliver Spencer and Mark McNairy. It will include a design from the Topman design team.

The jackets, priced £70 each, will launch across selected Topman stores in the UK and USA and online from April 5.

Topman design director Gordon Richardson said: “We all own or have owned one but this project is the perfect excuse to re-evaluate the most iconic of all wardrobe staples the denim jacket. Left to the dexterous hands of six leading menswear designers we have reinvention on a great scale. Trompe L’oeil, overprinting and mesh put the denim jacket centre stage once again.”
