Matalan has teamed up with model Abbey Clancy for its Christmas TV spot to raise money and awareness for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital Charity.
The retailer raised more than £650,000 for Alder Hey last Christmas with its Alphabet Scarves campaign and has launched this year’s Beanie vs Bobble Christmas fundraising efforts with 30 second TV advertisements.
The advert takes place in a 2D world, set to a poem focusing on the different aspects of Christmas and the light-hearted debates that fuel family conversations during the festive season.
Throughout the characters are wearing Matalan’s Alder Hey Bobble and Beanie Hats, while Clancy reads the poem.
The advert, directed by Richard Crombie and produced by Glover Films, was brought to life by independent Soho-based creative agency Libertine London.
Jason Hargreaves, managing director for Matalan, said: “These all too familiar annual differences of opinion inspired us to create ‘Beanie vs Bobble’ as a fun manifestation of the choices we all make over the festive season and the light-hearted debates they ignite in Britain’s homes. We are thrilled to be working with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital Charity to raise funds for their incredibly important work. All you have to decide is, are you a Beanie or a Bobble?”
