Adidas is bringing its Stella McCartney collaboration outside of London for the first time with the opening of its flagship in Trinity, Leeds.
The 6,545 sq ft outlet, which opens on August 16, will offer the designer’s full sportswear range.
Until now it has only been available in Adidas’ Oxford Street store and the Adidas by Stella McCartney standalone store on Fulham Road, London.
Adidas group retail director Rupert Campbell told Drapers that bringing the Mc Cartney line to Leeds was a “crucial element” in the new store composition.
He said: “We really want to go for the womenswear market as we have the product to service and excite the female customer. At the moment in Adidas stores the split is 65% menswear to 35% womenswear, but we really want to bring that closer to 50/50 in Leeds.”
The Leeds store will be Adidas’ biggest outside of London and will offer in-store exclusives including four new ZX colours and a new range of Porsche Originals. Nearly half - 46% - of the Adidas Originals range is also exclusive to Leeds.
Campbell said Leeds was a “prime location” given the city’s “strong sporting heritage” and large university population.
The sportswear group plans to expand into all the major cities in the UK and will open an outlet in Newcastle before Christmas.
