Adili sales soar by 388%

Ethical etailer Adili saw sales soar by 388% during the Christmas trading period, in its first update to the City since it floated in December.

Adili, which floated on AIM pre-Christmas, said that 2,357 items were shipped during the four weeks to December 21, compared with 835 items shipped in 2006. Some 1,050 orders were placed this Christmas, an increase from 376 for the period the previous year.

Adili also reported that strong trading continued into the Sale period, which began on December 21, and added that Sale performance was in line with directors' expectations.

Chief executive Adam Smith said: "Given the increasing share of the retail market being taken by ethical consumerism together with continued rapid growth of online retail sales, we remain confident and excited about the prospects for Adili."
