Cook joined Warehouse as design director in August 2015 after running her eponymous brand for 15 years.

Peacock will start her new role at the end of the month, reporting into Warehouse brand director Paula Stewart.

Peacock joined Amazon in January. She was previously head of design womenswear and accessories at Marks & Spencer from 2012 to 2016.

Before that she was womenswear design director at Debenhams from 2002 to 2012.

The news of Cook’s departure comes after the owner of Oasis, Warehouse and Coast decided to call off a planned sale of the three high street chains.

Kaupthing chief executive Paul Copley said: “We feel that the market does not currently recognise the value we see in the businesses.”
