Amazon plans New York store

Amazon is said to be preparing to open a physical store in New York in time for Christmas.

The etailer is planning to open a shop at 7 West 34th Street, opposite the Empire State Building and on the same street at Macy’s, which will act as a mini-warehouse to help customers with their Christmas shopping, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The shop, if it is agreed, is expected to also function as a base for same-day deliveries, order collection and product exchanges. It could also be used to showcase new tech products.

If the New York store proves successful, it has been reported that Amazon could look to rollout stores across other US cities.

The etailer has previously experimented with physical stores through pop-up shops and locations run by subsidiaries.
