Amazon to open fulfilment centre in Daventry

Amazon will open a fulfilment centre in Daventry, Northamptonshire, next year, which will employ 300 people.

The centre will be the third in the Midlands area, joining existing fulfilment sites in Rugeley in Staffordshire, and Coalville in Leicestershire.

The online giant plans to have more than 15,500 employees in the UK by the end of this year at locations including its head office in London; three development centres in Cambridge, Edinburgh and London; its customer service centre in Edinburgh; 12 fulfilment centres across England, Scotland and Wales; more than 30 delivery stations nationwide; and its fashion photography studio in Shoreditch.

Amazon will open a new London office in 2017 with capacity for 5,000 people.

It has previously announced it will open a fulfilment facility in Doncaster next year and one in Tilbury, Essex.
