American Eagle to land in UK by Christmas

American Eagle Outfitters is expected to launch in the UK by the end of this year, with the US retailer close to signing for around 26,000 sq ft split across three London sites.

Three years it ago secured property agent Harper Dennis Hobbs (HDH), and it is now poised to take stores at Westfield London, Westfield Stratford and Bluewater in Kent.

The two Westfield units are thought to be about 10,000 sq ft each, while the Bluewater branch is expected to be around 6,000 sq ft.

All three are scheduled to open before Christmas, a source told Drapers.

The fast-fashion retailer already has a UK-facing transactional website, but this will be its first physical presence in the country. Worldwide, the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-headquartered chain has more than 900 stores.

Its best sellers include jeans for around £26, polo shirts for around £18 and graphic T-shirts for between £10 and £15.

HDH did not respond to requests for comment.

  • Could be a massive problem for Lyle & Scott given the logos are exactly the same as far as the consumer is concerned and it could do a lit of damage to them..
