Antonio Berardi is the latest British designer to return to London Fashion Week (LFW).
The UK designer confirmed his return today, hot on the heels of Sass & Bide’s announcement yesterday that it would be showing at the event.
Berardi, who made his name at LFW in the 1990s, will return after a ten-year absence, having shown at Paris since 2005 and at Milan before that.
He told Grazia: “Because I’ve been showing in Milan and Paris for so long, there’s a generation that don’t know me as a London designer, but that’s what I am and I want people to know. I’m so excited to be coming home.”
He added: “Even though my business is based in Milan, I am a London designer. My stylist Sophia Neophitou is based there, and though it’s a big decision, it feels right. Luckily I’ve got support from Peroni who are making a London show possible.”
Berardi is the latest in a raft of British names returning to the capital to celebrate LFW’s 25th anniversary. Pringle, Burberry, Matthew Williamson and Jonathan Saunders have all signed up in recent months to return this season.
LFW takes place from September 18 to 22 in its new home at Somerset House. Berardi’s slot is yet to be confirmed.
