Apax Partners frontrunner for Matchesfashion sale

The owners of Matchesfashion are reportedly close to agreeing an £800m sale of the business to private equity firm Apax Partners.

Following a bidding war, Apax, which has previously invested in Tommy Hilfiger, is now said to be the frontrunner to take a majority stake in the firm, Sky News reports.

The deal to acquire the retailer, which is owned and was founded by Tom and Ruth Chapman, is expected to be signed in the coming days.
