Arcadia appoints Alex Tait as ecom chief

Fashion giant Arcadia Group has appointed former American Express digital marketer Alex Tait as group head of ecommerce.

He replaces Graham Morrell, who left in October to join young fashion brand Jack Wills, and will oversee the online presence of all Arcadia brands, which includes TopShop and Miss Selfridge.

Tait was previously director of international digital acquisition at American Express and is a former head of digital marketing at Post Office. He is expected to report into Simon Pritchard, global group director of ecommerce.

The appointment comes as Arcadia looks to broaden its ecommerce offer with the launch of five iPad apps for Topman, Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans and Wallis. The apps will be launched in May with Android versions to follow later in the summer.

As well as allowing users to buy products and find nearby stores, the apps will allow customers to scan barcodes to find products in store or have them delivered into store through Arcadia’s click and collect service.

Arcadia has said that mobile and tablets are a key focus for the group after sales through the channel rose by 250% year-on-year.

Mobile and tablets now account for a third of all one visits to Arcadia sites.
