Sales of formal coats at Asda rocketed 140% this week after shoppers scrambled to buy styles similar to one worn by Kate Middleton.
The Duchess of Cambridge was photographed wearing a blue cashmere coat by maternity brand Seraphine, which caused sales of traditional coats at the supermarket to outstrip casual styles by more than double.
Visits to George.com also increased, though figures were not given, and ‘formal winter coat’ was pushed into the top five searches online.
It follows previous uplift trends which included a 35% increase in sales of a nude lace dress sold by the supermarket similar to the Alexander McQueen wedding dress.
Kate Middleton’s Seraphine coat cost £195, in comparison to Asda’s £32 style.
